aMule 2.3.1 RC2
« on: August 21, 2011, 05:08:12 PM »

Here you go, a new release candidate for aMule 2.3.1.

This should be the last release candidate before the final version, which is to be released in October. Of this year, if possible. So, feel free to compile and test - we may provide MacOS X and Windows binaries soon in case someone wants to test on those platforms without compiling.

Always use the latest wxWidgets (2.8.12 or higher).

Here are the sources: http://sourceforge.net/projects/amule/files/aMule/2.3.1rc2/aMule-2.3.1rc2.tar.bz2/download

EDIT: Added MacOSX test build, for 10.5+, ppc or x86. Download here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/amule/files/aMule/2.3.1rc2/aMule-2.3.1rc2-MacOSX-10.5%2B-Universal-wxSVN-cocoa.zip/download

EDIT (Stu): Added Windows binaries: http://amule.googlecode.com/files/aMule2.3.1-RC2.zip

Enjoy!

Hi guys,

this morning i compiled aMule 2.3.1 RC2 on a fresh installation of XUbuntu 11.04 and i've some problems connecting to kad.
The program fails to download nodes.dat from many links (also the default one), at the moment the only working link i found is this.
Although it downloads the list and it reads ~130 contacts, it doesn't connect (confirmed by the "Kad info" tab and the corresponding icon).
Another minor problem is the language, aMule doesn't recognise my system language and if i try to change it from Preferences>General>Language>Change language, nothing happens.
The screen below shows the problems.

Regards,
Mark.

P.S.: the ports are correctly set on the router.

Here you go, a new release candidate for aMule 2.3.1.

Hello,

what is the difference between 2.3.1 rc2 and latest SVN ? I am currently running SVN 10561 and i am wondering if using 2.3.1 rc2 would be a step back, feature related.

Thanks

RC2 is created from SVN rev. 10600, so it is actually a forward-step.

The program fails to download nodes.dat from many links (also the default one), at the moment the only working link i found is this.
With the support of Kad1.0 dropped, we also had to drop support for version 0 nodes.dat files.
Code: [Select]
RoutingZone.cpp:171:                            // Don't read version 0 nodes.dat files, because they can't tell the kad version of the contacts stored.
Btw, eMule did the same in the 0.50a release.

However, aMule 2.2.6 writes version 1 nodes.dat files (iirc), so the old nodes.dat file should work.

Although it downloads the list and it reads ~130 contacts, it doesn't connect (confirmed by the "Kad info" tab and the corresponding icon).
About that I cannot say anything without further information.

Are the translations installed? And aMule itself? If yes, where? /usr or /usr/local or somewhere else?

Hi gono,

[OT] how are you? [/OT]

I compiled aMule and i also installed it in the /usr/local (default) directory.
I've solved the translation problem (i forgot to install the i18n support, for myself)...so, now the kad connection is the only problem remained. What further information do you need to solve it?
Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Mark.

Here you go, a new release candidate for aMule 2.3.1.
I'm wondering if You don't want the version being displayed in the app windows title.

Hi guyz,

At the end kad connected after many attempts to change nodes.dat with a working version, NOW the only one which make me able to connect is: http://www.nodes-dat.com/dl.php?load=nodes&trace=36505036.9444. NO OTHERS, is it normal?
Thanks guyz for your work and the support.

Regards,
Mark.

No, we don't. However, that might be made configurable...

Hi, thanks for compiling,
it works fine on Mac OS X 10.6.8, I really like the little touch on the clear completed button.
What I didn't noticed on the first build (RC1) was that secondary click on the "All (x/y)" button on top of downloads list should bring a menu, and it doesn't.

Bye.
