Strange issue on amuleweb and amulegui...
« on: September 05, 2011, 04:19:26 PM »

Hello to all,
I’ve two issue with aMule 2.2.5 using wxGTK2 v2.8.12 (OS: Linux), one on amuleweb and other one on amulegui…

Platform is a vmware guest with 64bit rhel 5.3 server.

Amule it’s ok; amuled works;

Amuleweb, work, but if I try to search something, engine don’t give me any result…
Amulegui, don’t work…

I’ve already tried everything, install amule rpm, or compiled with: “--with-denoise-level=4 --enable-optimize --disable-debug --enable-cas --enable-wxcas --enable-alc --enable-alcc --enable-amulecmd --enable-amule-daemon --enable-amule-gui --enable-geoip --enable-webserver --enable-verbose --disable-ccache --enable-remote”, but same issue occuors.

Socket for amulegui its listening but, if I try to telnet from client on the same subnet, on its port, no response,  whereas if I try to telnet on webserver port, connection was successfully established… if I telnet from localhost to localhost, on amulegui port, connection was successfully established…

I’ve try to disable SELinux firewall, but nothing to do…

The attachment is my amule configuration file.

Any answer will be appreciated! Thanks, Robby.

First of all - your version is very outdated. There is aMule 2.3.1 rc2 available with MANY enhancements of amulegui.

However communication should also work with 2.2.5, so the old version is not the problem.
aMule is not supposed to answer to telnet - it uses a completely different protocol so this is not of value.

What exactly are you doing? Which is the guest and which is the host OS? Are you running both amule and amulegui inside the guest, or amulegui from outside? If inside-outside, what is your vmware network configuration?

Well...

First, thanks Stu!
Tomorrow I will try new version!

For telnet response I mean a simple "tcpip acknowledge" raw connection to know if a socket it's opened and listening, "when the cursor going on the left top of a dos-prompt"!

Anyway, I've tried to know how to amulegui works on the server side, but I didn't find anything in the wiki...

I'm trying to establish remote connection to amuled (vm guest rhel 5.3) from other vm/real clients (2003x64 - windows7) from subnet X to subnet Y, and yes, routing its correct, on the same subnet of amule server there's a Domino mail server (clients-server app) that works fine.

vmware server 2 (no esx) host is a 2003x86 os with 12 really interfaces, it's a develop environment and its firewalled, but no nat between clients and amule server, vm network are bridged correctly, I'm an it specialist and I'm sure that the vm host & network aren't the problem!
Between vm guest clients and vm guest amule server, all protocol and ports are allowed, if I snoop traffic from amule server interface, I can see all packets go through...

I'm running amuled and amuleweb on the guest rhel system, but I don't know if I can run amulegui at the same time than others 2 daemons!

Last test that I've tried is, ssh to amule server, run amuled without web server, display exported on client, start amulegui, always from amule server shell, and amulegui works! At the "amulegui login popup", defaults options are wrong (server and socket port), but if I set it and launch, it works..!

Speechless..!

We have two types of programs:
a) amule, amuled: P2P core, EC ("external connect") server
b) amuleweb, amulegui, amulecmd: user interface, EC client
Any EC client can connect to any EC server. I'm not sure if aMule 2.2.5 supports connection of both amuleweb and amulegui at the same time though. So either run amuleweb or amulegui.
