Friend Slot useless?

Greetings!

I've been trying to get some rare files for my granddaughter - Every Witch Way late Season 2 and early Season 3 - and have asked sources (only 1 or 2) for Friend Slot. This has been granted - Thanks! - but still I take forever in their queue, and even go backwards as the queue grows ahead of me. This despite 24/7 connection, High ID. What exactly is Friend Slot supposed to do? It seems to NOT be doing it!

OK - I seem to have found the magic formula (not immediately apparent in help/howto): With source client having granted Friend Slot, now ensure that client is in your friends list, and with a right-click on slow/stalled transfer Enable Friend Slot at your end!
It would also seem that the Friend Slot as granted from remote client applies to any/all requested files (heart in icon), but each must be enabled at your end.

Something that could be made more obvious? ...

Interesting.  On the opposite end I just yesterday noticed someone had been trying to get a 1.6 GB file from me for over 3 months as I was the only source.  Feeling sorry for them I went ahead and friended them and then noticed I also needed to enable a slot for them.  I can say that it worked fine on my end as the uploader and it enabled them to download another 500 MB from me without interruption with 100 other people on queue..  I did not know them otherwise so I would also think it worked by default without them doing anything special.  Their client as I recall was the newest official release of emule.
