Info on an error message
« on: July 04, 2004, 11:26:54 PM »

Hi everybody,

I activated the "verbose" option in aMule so I get a lot of messages back in the "log" windows... I have done this already using w2k+emule so I know a little bit what kind of messages I can expect, but I noticed an error I had never noticed before. It is the following:

"The client ''(IP: ) has caused an error: 2. Disconnecting..."

First detail: I get this message in Italian, so I'm actually back-translating it in English, the sense should be correct, the exact words may be different in English... I get this error approximately every minute, caused by different clients usually.

Now, aMule is working fine, I have a good ID, I UL with no probs, I also DL with no problem... actually my DL speed is a little bit low, say 20-30 kB/s, with sporadic peaks of 40-50. With Xp+aMule I used to have 2 or 3 times this speed... no big deal, but can this be due to the fact that I cannot connect to a number of clients due to that error?

Thanks to everyone that can give some details about it!

If a client sends a bad apacket, then it is disconnected from you. Obviosuly, that's a source you are loosing, but most-surely not a useful sopruce ;-)
So, no, not because of that... unless that client was actually sending a correct packet ;-)

The only strange thing is that I get LOTS of this error, say one each 5-10 seconds maybe... so I think I'm losing a lot of sources. Is it possible that each of this clients send erroneus packets?

I used to get a lot of those error messages while using the verbose mode... even more than you, I think, something like 1 error each second. Everyone told me this is normal... Well, even if this happens a lot, my downloads still go faster than in eMule, so I guess this isn't a major issue.

If thatr same client keeps insisting in sending packets... then there's nothing aMule can do to avoid showing those messages in verbose mode. It's verbose activated, then it must report ;-P
Disable verbose and that's it, no more msgs disturbing you ;-)
Greetings!
