Numerical Identification
« on: August 09, 2004, 06:06:03 AM »

It would be nice if it was easily visible to see the clients that amule had come in contact with, as well as using numerical identification for the cookie-cutter username clients in your upload list, such as emule with the username "http://emule-project.net" would become "http://emule-project.net User 134" I believe with a small map you could accomplish this fairly efficently, just storing the user-hash, having a default numerical association for the cookie-cutter usernames, and then an unsigned short or something for the numerical identification.

If i got that right in the chat
he had the problem that in his upload there were 4 user:
4x http://emule-project.net and he wanted to view the Files of the users
So there were 2 windows with files and 2 times the denied message
but he didn't know who was who...

Something like that

well, maybe having the userhash instead of the username on the viewfiles?

hm, you can't say which user has the hash, so you would need an extra column in the UL tab with the Hash and in the message perhaps
Username (hash)

or something like that

problem with the hash is that its too long for easy human recognition. Of course a machine can understand the difference between
a34079235n1plhcASDH2921$#U492nla
and
a34079235n1plheASDH2921$#U492nla
quickly, but for a human, or at least for me, it seems to be a lot more trouble, than to just have a table associating their hashes with just a number like http://www.emule-project.org -- 1

that way when you see
http://www.emule-project.org --- 1
and
http://www.emule-project.org --- 2
you can easily tell the difference with a glance.

hm, there's only one letter difference in the hashes...
...1plh c ASD...
...1plh e ASD...
was quite easy because the hashes were writen under each other,...  :))
But i cab see the problem,...

well, there's a little chacne you get two users with such a similar hash anyway ;)
But well, the numbering would be easier for sure.
Greetings!
