compile wxGTK error
« on: August 17, 2004, 05:07:24 AM »

i follwed what it said here: http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Compilation_Installation#Compiling_From_Sources

+ i was on step 1 in compile wxGTK
+ then the last lines after i typed "./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-gtk2 --with-gtk && make" it says:

saving argument cache configarg.cache
checking for toolkit... gtk
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

+ now i'm on step 1 "as root" section, i followed it and it says:

BTSource:/opt/wxGTK-2.4.2# make install
make: *** No rule to make target `install'.  Stop.
BTSource:/opt/wxGTK-2.4.2# ldconfig
BTSource:/opt/wxGTK-2.4.2#

What OS are you running, gcc toolchain versions, kernel versions, etc. Thanks :)

i think amule is good, but i never got to actually try it!

psa,

Seems to me that configure is not able to find your C compiler. Are you sure you have one installed? If you do, maybe your PATH variable is incorrectly set.

I don't know linspire, but if this fits you, you should not drop that easy. For other distros, I can recommend you debian (have tried and liked it) and gentoo (never tried, but lots of people use). I personally use Fedora Core 1, for historical and work reasons :) but if Fedora continues to drop quality, that will not last.

Cheers!
