problem with amule window
« on: December 04, 2003, 04:23:53 PM »

I have this strange problem, when I start amule I get the splash and then it opens a window that is only 10 pixels wide and that I can't resize, here is a screenshot:

Note that the window is not touching the left side of the screen, hiding the other part of the window, it's really 10 pixels wide.
This happens in the default X window manager and in fluxbox, that I installed to make sure that it wasn't the window manager. I tried this with amule 1.1.0 and 1.2.0 and xmule. I know aMule is working because the web interface works fine, it's just that I can't do anything with that small window.
If I login with root amule starts in a full window without problems.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Hi,

Try to remove ~/.eMule then restart aMule and report ...

No, same problem as before. I expected this, since it's the same situation as the first run when ~/.eMule didn't exist.
In fact, I tried to run amule from another new (non root) account and didn't work either. It seems that is some kind of permissions problem, since only root can run it.
Unfortunatelly I don't have any other gtk application to try on, do you think it could be a gtk problem?

hi,

i have the same problem, but only with 1.2.0. all prior versions were ok.

as a workaround, use the geometry command line parameter, e.g.

Quote
amule --geometry 600x400

amule will then start with it's main window sized with 600 pixel width and 400 pixel height.

Thank you very much, with that workaround it works fine. I wonder why could this be happening.
