The connections are always on!
« on: September 13, 2004, 07:09:31 PM »

I'm having a problem but I don't know if the problem is with aMule or with the Portugues server's.

When I connect my modem is everything OK;
When I start aMule is everything OK;
When I close aMule the modem keeps sending information;
When I shutdown my computer the modem still keeps sending information;

Per day it generates about 200Mb of internacional traffic; Here in Portugal we have a limit of 1Gb for internacional download.

The modem only stops when I disconnect it...

Anyone can help me?

Tanks in advance

Are you sure it only happens after using aMule??
Is it an independent modem or an isp-provider's modem?

When runnig netstat the connections goes off but the modem stills having activity.

I don't know what's going on...

As it's an ISP-provider modem, it is probably sending some packets to report it is up and sort of garbage and netword-dirty information. Don't worry about it, I doubt it is even 1% of your bandwidth.

I have the modem connect to a router (Asus WL-500g) and I can see a lot of IP's sending packets to my IP.

I'll try to resolve it.. Maybe it's not an aMule problem...

It's because your ip is spreaded over ed2k network after using aMule and can be more than an hour will people stops trying to contact you. MAybe months if there are mldonekys around.

Hummmmm...

But I use portugueses servers so it will only generates nacional traffic... I have a ipfilter.dat on my .aMule directory.

When I close aMule I may start to accepts connections from addresses that are blocked?

The only problem is the internacional traffic... That's the weird's thing... In Portugal we only have 1Gb per month... 1Gb / 200mb = 5 days... :(

use limits so you don't download any faster than x kb/s
about national traffic I guess it's a limitation for outgoing connections, so allthough the aMule filter is not working anymore, since aMule is not working, it will not be uploading to anyone, not even the non-portuguese users ;-)
