OK; after running with rc5 on my SuSE 9.1 system for what feels like months with no hassle, I (like no doubt many others!) have been looking forward to rc6.
So - I downloaded the SuSE rpm & ran:
#su & pswd
#rpm -Uvh amule*.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libwx_gtk2-2.4.so.0 is needed by amule-2.0.0rc6-1
libwx_gtk2-2.4.so.0(WXGTK2_2.4) is needed by amule-2.0.0rc6-1
Now, the packages are installed and the symlinks are in place. As I said - rc5 was running fine.
If I upgrade the wxGTK packages to those provided by SuSE on the installation CDs (2.4.2.4-138), aMule will start but will give me this error in the GUI:
"You are running aMule linked againts GTK2...etc etc" ...before it crashes within seconds afterwards.
So, what gives? I tried with GTK2.5.2-1, only to get the same dependency problem as the one above.
Thanks for any suggestions.

wxGTK 2.4.2 linked with GTK2 doesnt work.
Only 2.5.x do (and in my experience, badly, with lots of cpu usage and memleaks).

Can't compile the GTK packages either. Besides, I really prefer the rpm way for this in any case, if I can make it work. Cheers, JPB |

hey posted mal alle die probleme haben rpm -qa | grep wx und stellt sicher das ihr nicht irgentwelchen wxGTK versionen von Suse installiert habt... sprich wxGTK-2.4.2-1 sollte nur installier sein..suse hat da noch -83 oder so hinten dran..(hab kein suse)  stefanero EDIT: zur 2.5....und memleaks... es gitb ein Mem problem wenn man mit wxGTK gegen gtk2 compiliert... amule funktioniert nimmt aber nach 2-3 ziemlich viel speicher.... wenn man es gegen gtk1 compiliert, also so wie man es schon hat mit wx2.4.2, nimmt es ca 50% weniger!! cpu und kaum speicher Stefanero http://www.aMule.org is online with high ID on server Razorback 2 [ 195.245.244.243:4661 ]
aMule CVS is using 14.6% CPU, 87.68 MB of memory and it has been running for 01D 20h 47min 39s
on AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2000+ @ 1661.922 MHz up 14 days, 23:42, 2 users, load average: 1.84, 1.62, 1.59
Sharing 55 files with 501 clients in queue
Total download traffic: 71.68 Gb, total upload traffic: 51.46 Gb
Session download traffic: 4353.02 Mb, session upload traffic: 2356.36 Mb
Current DL speed: 31.0 KB/s, current UL speed: 15.0 KB/s |

seems to be fine for me...

ok, I know where the problem lies...trying to find a solution with the new packager....since deltaHF who made the rpms before is atm missing in action...

wtf... that is hwat happens when you think in 2 languages my bad there is only a problem with 2.5 and up if you link it against gtk2....and this commes due to bad interaction from wxGTK and gtk2...so when you compile your wxGTK2.5.2 or whatever against gtk1 it will not leak memory alot, and reduce cpu usage by 50%..... and the other stuff was just a post about cpu and mem usage...after 24h running....thats all stefaenero PS: about hte SuSE rpms, Xaignar is not here atm and we need him to upload new rpms, so hopefully tonight..but they are done |

Thanks for uploading it again! It's running now.
But at first start it was looking for amule in /usr/local/bin. I had to copy it from /usr/bin into /usr/local/bin. A link would be the better choice, I think.
