How to come back to rc5
« on: October 06, 2004, 07:59:06 PM »

Hi guys

I succesfully install the RPM for RC6 two days ago just to test it a little bit. It's really nice but as you mention, amulecmd and amuleweb do not work so I decided to go back to RC5.

I uninstalled then, the amule and the libwxGTK rpms. I checked the packages needed for amule rc5:

libwxbase2.4_0-2.4.2-2mdk.i586.rpm
libwxgtk-common_2.4_0-2.4.2-4mdk.i586.rpm
libwxgtk-gtk1_2.4_0-2.4.2-4mdk.i586.rpm
libcryptopp5-5.1-2mdk.i586.rpm

which were properly installed. I followed with the installation of rc5 which went fine, but when trying to run amule I got the following error:

[]$ amule
Initialising aMule
Userhash loaded: D097D3E8F20E668DC7D5A770E1316F50
*** UDP socket at 4665
*** TCP socket at 4662
*** UDP socket at 4672

OOPS! - Seems like aMule crashed

  • amule(_ZN9CamuleApp16OnFatalExceptionEv+0xd5) [0x82208d5]

Aborted

which I don't have a clue what t means... Any hint???

Thanks a lot!!!!

Same problem here, if I delete the .aMule directory it will start up but as soon as I try to download a server list it crashes out with the same error.  I have to re-delete .aMule to get it to start again, rinse and repeat forever...

the server.met problem is fixed in CVS already and rc7 will be out because of that and some other error really soon...

to come back to your rc5 you need to install the right wxGTK rpms, I am pretty sure the once from mdk dont work and thats why amule crashes on startup, same with SuSE and FC.

so deinstall ALL your wxGTK rpms and wxBASE whcih come from mdk, and install the once from wxWindows or our page here....
that should do the trick

Hi Stefanero

Now it works, I don't understand why but it does... One question, do you know when, which release will solve this problem with amulecmd and amuleweb????

Thanks a lot

amuleweb doesn't work because this RPM uses wx 2.5.1, if you compile with other version of wx amuleweb works fine....at least so fine how in rc5 ;)
