Hi guys, my first crash after only a couple of minutes of use  :D hope it helps.
Since it was the first time I had it running I was setting the preferences, and when i accepted them amule crashed.

Im using FC3 Test3
wxGTK1 v2.5.3 --> compiled manually
aMule 2.0.0rc7 --> compiled manually
gcc 3.4.2
kernel --> 2.6.8-1.541

OPS! - Seems like aMule crashed.
EDITED: I deleted this backtrace since it wasnt done with gdb and it was useless to shorten the thread.See the proper one in one of the posts below

Hello again, another crash, this time i was looking a comentary on a file, so i right cliked on it and then 'show all comments' and thats when amule crashed.

OPS! - Seems like aMule crashed.
EDITED: I deleted this backtrace since it wasnt done with gdb and it was useless to shorten the thread.See the proper one in one of the posts below.

hey

since now compiling works ;)

can you recompile amule with --enable-debug --disable-optimize and run it in gdb?

have a look at backtrace forum top post if you have any question.

Hello again, i followed the sticky post instructions and here are the results, hope is usefull for you, its a loooong one i must say.
HOW IT HAPPEND: I right clicked on a file on the 'transfers tab' and choose 'Show all coments', the comments window opened and amule crashed. The error is easy to reproduce doing the same thing, sometimes it lets you see a few file comments but will crash eventually if you keep doing it.

Can you try downgrading to either wx2.4.2 or wx2.5.1 and tell us if the crashes still happens?

well more stable is 2.4.2 but you need wxBase aswell for it
atleast if you want webserver...

hello again,

I compiled wx 2.4.2 as requested and stability has come back to my life  :D
Its been running for 17 hours so far and its rock stable, no matter how many file comments i see  :P

Anything else to do?

Ah ok, i thoutgh you might want any other test.
Just FYI, i didnt compile wxBase since i dont use the web interface, and amule doesnt feel that responsive, that quick with 2.4.2 as was with 2.5.3, any clue why it wouldnt work well with it on my system ??

Well, 2.4.2 does not work well with gtk2, 2.5.3 on the other hand, is ok with gtk2. I heard that gtk2 uses less cpu. And besides that, 2.5.3 is a lot more bug fixed than 2.4.2, so there may be a lot of reasons why 2.5.3 is more responsive. I personally use aMule with wx-cvs + gtk2, and I have no problems so far. My compilation flags for wxWidgets are:

1) For non-unicode:
./configure --enable-debug --disable-optimise --enable-debug_flag --enable-debug_info --enable-debug_gdb --enable-gtk2 --disable-unicode --prefix=/usr/local/wxWidgets-cvs

2) For unicode:
./configure --enable-debug --disable-optimise --enable-debug_flag --enable-debug_info --enable-debug_gdb --enable-gtk2 --enable-unicode --prefix=/usr/local/wxWidgets-cvsu

My aMule compilation flags are:
./configure --enable-debug --disable-optimize --enable-verbose --enable-webserver --enable-webservergui --enable-amulecmd --enable-amulecmdgui --enable-ccache --with-wx-config=/usr/local/wxWidgets-cvs/bin/wx-config

(of course, you dont need all of these flags, i do that cos I have to test all these programs)

I run aMule like this (non-unicode):
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/wxWidgets-cvs/lib/ verb-cvs/src/amule &

or this (unicode):
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/wxWidgets-cvsu/lib/ verb-cvsu/src/amule &
