I think it's mem corruption - while base pointer is still ok (this=0x8de4a40), parameter contain junk: toremove=0x9d8a098

Just out of curiosity, how do you know that "toremove=0x9d8a098" is junk? 0x09d8A098 is too low for dynamically allocated memory? I tend to agree with you, but I don't really know how does the glibc memory allocator works.

this=0x8de4a40 but  toremove=0x09d8a098

malloc allocates memory continuosly.
if you assume that "this" is valid - that it must be about 0x80000000 bytes allocated

Well, these two pointers are just 16Mb far from each other - I don't think this is too much.
