LowID? (feh, another one?)
« on: December 01, 2004, 11:49:42 AM »

I'm not sure why I get a highid with emule but a lowid with amule. I've opened the ports (4661-5000) needed on my router to forward requests to this computer. I do not use ipchains. I'm also connecting to the same server as I do with emule. Read the FAQ, nothing. Sifted the forums, nothing. It's late. Forgive me. =)

Ateo: you most probably have a firewall installed by default on your Linux (or whatever aMule is running on) box. Check it. Read http://wiki.amule.org/index.php/Firewall for more info on that.

I have the same problem (lowid), and I'm sure I don't have a firewall installed, since I'm using Gentoo Linux, and I don't installed any firewall.

Does anyone know any other reason why did I always receive an lowid ?

No. Both have different IPs. The linux computer is 192.168.4.20 while the windows IP is 192.168.4.25. However, I updated my router to reflect that.

Currently, emule now gets a lowid due to the router setting. However, if I change the router setting to point to the emule box and reconnect to any server, boom, I get a highid again. So, I know it's not my router.

No firewall by default. I run a Gentoo system so everything that is on my computer is on because I put it there. Nothing is installed "by default".. Do other distros install a firewall by default? So windows like. :-P

This sucks. I can't share my stuff... =(.. Well, not off linux anyways...

Ateo, ghubsch:

there's no bug on aMule about LowID in rc7 anymore, that's 99% sure. because there are many users, and you're the only  two with ths problem :P there were bugs related to this in passed releases (rc5 was the last one iirc) but not anymore. so something is wrong in your system. I can't be absolutely sure, but I'm almost :)

I'd suggest you to take a look at:

http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/AMule_problems#aMule_connects_to_server,_but_it_is_always_given_LowID._Why?_and,_can_I_do_something_about_it?

also, try sharing less files (some servers put lowid to users sharing too much files). Last, try moving ~/.aMule somewhere else, since maybe you got blacklisted on most servers due to some leaching ctivity you unknowingly did ;)

Greetings!

hey, wait a second!, please tar-gzip your old ~/.aMule directories and mail them to "jacobo221 at_server amule at_network org" so I can try to track what the bug was.

Now, next you have to do:
if you had your Temp and Incoming files in your old ~/.aMule dir, move them back to the ~/.aMule dir you have now. After taking a look at you buggy ~/.aMule dirs' contents I tell you what else you can reget (such as userhash, credits, etc).

Greetings!

P.D.: When compressing the directory, don't include the Incoming and Temp dirs, of course ;)

paolo:
wherever, except where it was ;)
the idea is to move the diretory away so that aMule can't find it, since one of the files in there was broken and was crashing aMule.
Pleas do not delte th directory or any file in it. before, get to know which is the file that's crashing aMule and post it here, so we can work on it to see what's that's crashing aMule.
Tahnks and greetings!
