Running aMule for the first time -server list & port pro
« on: December 27, 2003, 09:22:26 PM »

Ok, I'm new to Linux and I have looked at the forum for some time for some help on this problem but found nothing. So, here's my problem. I'm running Mandrake 9.2. I have managed to install aMule using the RPM packages and it launches. As soon as it does I am presented with a dialog box informing me of the following:
"No Serverlistadress entry in 'adresses.dat' found. Please paste a valid serverlist address into this file to auto-update your serverlist"
*By the way, I'm not picking holes, but you missed an extra "d" in "Serverlistaddress" in the first part  :wink:

I click ok to that and get another dialog box stating: "Port 4662 is not available !! This will mean that you will be LOWID. Use netstat........"
I used netstat and that port isn't locked to another process. I was using Overnet a few days ago which uses the same port and that works ok.

I know these are simple questions, but hey, I'm a simple guy  :)

Thanks for any help you can provide.

hi,

1. what aMule version do u use ? (1.2.0 has a small lowid bug)
2. preferences -> servers -> check only:
always filter bad ip's
use priority system
use smart lowid check on connect
safe connect

uncheck other things (autoupdates r just sux)
