overhead reduce, dead client list
« on: February 23, 2005, 02:37:45 PM »

After five hours my aMuled client has a upload overhead of 34 MB and a Download overhead of 25 MB. This is very high! eMule only produces this high overhead between 24 hours if I have Kad enabled.
Because of this aMule needs a dead client list where all clients are saved for maybe one hour or just how long eMule does when connecting to them fails. This is important because we all get dead sources through servers and especially through source exchange many times. If we would always try to establish connection many bytes are gone. Another point is the reasktime. We can use the connection preferences of the eMule client because they are widley tested and used. This should help to reduce the overhead and connection attempts.

True, I'll bump it to the top of my todo-list.

ED: As for changing the re-ask time, I'm not sure if that is a good idea, I'll have to check first.
