Just to keep you people updated :)
« on: March 04, 2005, 02:57:30 AM »

Ok, some updates:

2.0.0 is going to be release soon. I know, I know, we ALWAYS say soon, but his time I mean soon :)

The release is being slightly delayed because we're finishing it so it's a rocking release that deserves the 2.0.0 FINAL tag.

Highlight of latests fixes:
• Solaris compatibility completed. (thx skolnick for the solaris box for testing!)
You can see a screenshot HERE

  • Sparc arch is completely supported now, unless we break something later ;) Thanks chance2105 for reporting and testing! So long, we support x86, x86_64, ppc, sparc, alpha (afaik) and probably other untested cpus :)

  • wxSocket fixes that improved network a lot. This is SPECIALLY important for wxMac users, because they were the most affected ones. See the rocking downloads they're getting HERE. Thanks to lionel for the tests and ken for the help!
As you can see, we are lately focusing on supporting all we can so aMule will be the truly multiplatform ed2k client out there... except for windows, as we all know :)

Of course, there are a lot more additions and fixes, and all. Core/Gui separation is finished as long as amule daemon, webserver, and all is concerned. Remote GUI is under development, and a stripped version of it might go into the 2.0.0 final release, tho probably not a complete one.

We aren't getting crashes lately on aMule (amule daemon and webserver is a different matter, tho they are now much more stable) since long, long time.  As long as Xaignar doesn't touch the codebase much, at least :P So expect it to be STABLE also.

Thanks to YOU ALL people for all the testing, support, and the good times we get at IRC and forums. You, users, rock :)

Well, I know nothing about them so I'll just torture GonoszTopi to get some info :) Of course they will be included, afak, if they're ok :)

would you mind to release an updated source_strings file a few days before the release so translators can have some time to work and 2.0.0 can be fully translated?

Of course. That's already planned. It's not done yet because we're reworking the strings so you have less work :)

I believe you mean the 20050225 cvs snapshot. This is not rc8 :) Or maybe I misunderstood it all :P

Cheers!

I'm running aMule CVS dated 01/03/2005 with a cvs snapshot of wx 2.5.4, and it runs flawlessly here.... Well it did crash only once but I haven't been able to reproduce the crash again...

Yeah, ok, this wasn't really intended, but it was the way it always is: We announced a release "soon" and everything just broke...  :]

But most of the bugs are now ironed out and the release should be done... soon...  :D

We're waiting for wxGTK-2.6 to be released. IIRC, Kry said it would be within a few weeks.
