4662 port is not reachable

Dear All

I am trying aMule for the first time. However, the connection to the server:

tejo.kicks-ass.net:4661

is not successful, getting the following message:

NG : Your 4662 port is not reachable.

I am running Mandrake 10.1.

Any ideas?

Thanks, phoenix. I had already read all the material that you recommend me. However, I have not been able to solve the problem. I did add the following line to /etc/shorewall/rules:

ACCEPT   net   fw   tcp   4662

but with no success.

Any further ideas?

Have you tried differente servers? Razorbak2 or Donkeyserver No 1 for example?

Thanks. I can connect to those servers, but I still get the reported error message. I have meanwhile isolated the possible cause: my ethernet modem does not pass/forward the 4662 port. Since there is no manual for my modem, I do not know how to do that.

Nice, I can see you did your homework :)

Have you tried to search for your modem manual on the internet? Google is your friend, I am sure you will find what you want. Once Kry said that if you look for aMule 3.0.0 with Google, you will certainly find it, even though it has not been written yet. :P

There is a site that explains the port forwarding for generic routers. Then, by confronting its contents with my modem's configuration menus, I was meanwhile able to forward the 4662 port and now aMule is running like a formula 1 car!
