Max 200 files or so??
« on: April 05, 2005, 11:35:23 AM »

Why does the ED2K network or at least some of the servers on it have a problem with a client sharing more than 200 files?  I was connected to Razorback 2 and it told me I am sharing too many files: 293 and that I need to upgrade my client.

I've heard that you're not supposed to share more than 200 files or so on the ED2K network on a per-client basis but that just doesn't make sense.  Why should it care?  I would think that sharing more files would be good.

Will the Kademlia network have the same problem?

This is a problem with older versions of aMule. I'd suggest that you follow the advice given.

I didn't realize this was a problem in terms of amule versions.  I'm using aMule 2.0.0rc8 though, so I don't think that my version is too old.

This doesn't address why there is a limit of 200 files per client.  Why does a server have a problem with any client wanting to publish more than 200 files?

I'm on R2, too. But I never saw such a messge. Not in rc7, not in rc8 and for sure never in CVS. I share 257 files atm, and the only thing that sucks, is that all 257 have to be flushed at shutdown, even if 90% if them are paused, and shouldn't be changed.

Well, I'm definitely running 2.0.0rc8.  It's the only version I've ever run; I've not been using aMule or the ED2K network for very long.

Code: [Select]
04/06/05 01:53:02: Found 196 known shared files, 12 unknown
04/06/05 01:53:04: Error: Razorback 2 (195.245.244.243:4661) -  : Too many files republished by your client software. Please upgrade it.
04/06/05 01:53:12: Lost connection to Razorback 2(195.245.244.243:4661)

So, I'm confused.  There used to be a mention on the wiki about only sharing 200 files but I can't find that any more.

How many files of them are finished? I have only 13 finished files, Maybe that is the problem.

You have to update the version if you want that to dissapear. There is a limit of files shared per time frame and version rc8 doesn't handle it well.

Vollstrecker:
Queued files are only shared if you have at least one part. If you want to know how many files you share, check the SharedFiles window. ;)
