connection trouble
« on: April 29, 2005, 01:25:02 PM »

I used to be on a different ISP, and when I used that ISP aMule worked great, no problems there. Last year I changed ISP, to a more restrictive provider (college network). If I understand correctly, they use NAT on a large scale, which means I cannot change the port forwarding settings in their routers or anything. When I first moved here, I could only connect in passive mode (which makes sense, because of the reason above), but I could download and upload to other users (well if I understand correctly, not all users, only the active ones).

The point is, although it had long waiting times, the thing worked. Now after I reinstalled my OS (which is Ubuntu Linux) and not keeping the settings of aMule when it worked (port settings, etc) I can't seem to do what I could do before anymore: I can connect to a server, I can do searches, I can get into peoples queues, but I can't seem to do any file transfer to other users: when an upload or a download is ready to start and tries to start, the speed stays at 0 kb/s and after a while it times out. So, I kinda am okay with not having an active connection (there isn't much I can do about that, right?), but it seems like having a passive connection doesn't work either. I have read the wiki, but there isn't really an explanation for what I'm having here. Maybe some of you can help me out?
Thanks in advance!!

when you lost your configuration files, you also lost your userhash, and therefore you lost all of your credits with other clients. Wait until you get credits again.

Regards.

How can I regain my credits if I can't upload to other people? The program has been running for some days now, and each time someone tries to upload from me, the connection times out.
