Uploads from previous sessions are lost
« on: April 29, 2005, 05:29:42 PM »

I recently upgraded from 1.2.6 in the hope of correcting this problem, but alas it is still here.  The full situation:
I am running debian (woody) stable, which accounts for using a slightly outdated version which i obtained from: http://debian.thermoman.de/dists/stable/amule/
Using a met file from: http://ed2k.2x4u.de/index.html
On kernel 2.4.18-1-686.
Using the port checker from here: http://www.amule.org/testport.php resulted in time outs, but I can download and upload so it leads me to believe this is not the source of the problem, and can be sorted at a later date.
The Problem:  I download, I upload, I presume I gain credits for uploading, and then I close down the computer at night, start it the next day, and start amule.  But if I check the history of my shared files, every files upload total is set to 0.  Now this is not a problem, unless this reflects on my upload score, but since I no way of checking this it does raise my suspicions.  All files in ~$.aMule/ are set with user permissions to read and write, including cryptkey.dat, and a quick browse of the system doesnt show that amule is using anything but those files in my home folder.
As is often a good idea when experianceing problems, is is always better to use the latest stable version, but since I am using the stable branch of debian with older libraries etc, this is more complicated than I would like to bother.
So if any person has any suggestions, explanations or theories I would appreciate very much to hear them.  I look forward to a response, and in the meantime i will have a look at getting the ports working with the above port testing script.

Kind regards

Ben

you should get amule rc8 at least.. tho it will not compile on woody because the compiler is too old ..

cheers

I guess i'll have to live with for a while then.  This computer is too important to put it in any risk, so I will have to wait until I get a laptop that I use the testing or sarge branch of debian.  Anyway, thanks for your reply. :D

It seems that the upload history of files (in the shared files window) is a bit sparadic.  I checked the statistics and  it had my upload total (GBs), so my uploads are recorded from session to session after all.  Anyway thank you to all those who replied.
