Ports below 1024
« on: January 12, 2004, 07:15:16 PM »

Hi

My ISP has only opened a few ports on my line - all below port 1024.
Earlier on it was possible to configure amule to use ports below 1024, but now it seems that you are limiting people to use ports above 1024.
I am aware of the security issues when running amule as root. But to use a port below 1024 and run amule as root is the only was I can get a high ID.

I would be really happy if you would make is possible to use ports below 1024 again.

regards,

Hi.

I'm sorry, this is not aMule's problem, this is typical for linux: all ports below 1024 are "reserved" ports and can only be used by root.

Yes ... I know only root can access those ports. That is why I am running amule as root.
This has worked before - in version 0.10 afair.
