the repositories (http://www.vollstreckernet.de) in ubuntu (hoary hedge 5.04) (2.6.10-5-386), do not meet the dependencies for libc6, wich are needed to upgrade amule and install amule-utils and other extra software.

...@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install amule-utils
....
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  amule-utils: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.2.ds1-21) but 2.3.2.ds1-20ubuntu13 is to be installed
               Depends: libwxbase2.6 but it is not going to be installed
               Depends: libwxgtk2.6 but it is not going to be installed

can anyone tell me how this can be solved?

use debian instead of unbutu....

or see if you can get those libc6 for unbutu maybe....

Or find someone, that sponsors me a cronjob and ssh-access to an ubuntu machine.

thanks, i installed the libc6 package (http://packages.debian.org/testing/base/libc6) , and after fixing some brokenpackages i was able to upgrade amule.

If i remember correctly, "ubontu" means "be different" - they certanly are.

arquata: ubuntu using debian install system, so why not use real thing, which works so match better ?

Thanks for the advice, i WILL try debian (:baby:) the next time (soon ), youre not the first one who tells me so.

I got stuck now with a locales problem, due to the installalion of libc6 i needed to remove the locales package. And some other apps refusing to be installed.
Im quite a noob, so it will take me some investigation.
Suggestions? ....except switching to debian

ubountu in afrikan really means: 'being human depends on the humanity of others'. which in essence is a beautifull OS-filosophy...

Wow, that's quite expressive word   But, besides of interesting point of view, what does it have to do with computers or

OS-filosophy

 ?( Isn't it about people - whe word "human" still doesn't apply to metal-silicon based clock driven beings executing predefined set of commands

Have you ever thought about that libc6 is one of the most essentlial pakcages? If you take Debians libc6, and want to let all your software work with that, you will more and more switch to debian itself. Grab you the netinstall CD, and be happy, all other is unneeded work.

Even more: it is the package - heart the system together with kernel. Taking libc from one distro and putting it to another is "not most recommended thing to do". It may work, if you have similar systems, like ubuntu vs debian, or may not in other cases.

8o Quite a nooblike step i made there, although still works...and faults give more understanding and insight in the system.

I'll start downloading a debian install cd..... ;(

Concerning ubuntu, i got fascinated (as a noob not being able to handle debian) by the way the initiator sold ubuntu to a mayor company (wich is a doubtfull development) and devided the returns amongst the employees. Clinically computers have nothing with humans except we build them..... but a OS can be human friendly (linux) or not (windows).......  :]
