Hi, I've read a lot of pages about fake:evil:servers, used to spy our shared files lists and to send us corrupted data.

A solution could be adding a column in the server list with the number of sources that the server sent .
after a while (maybe some days) we can delete servers with 0 in that column, because they are fake or useless.

This could also  be improved adding the number of VALID sources, so that we can delete or blacklist also fake servers providing fake sources providing corrupted data.

why not just use an up2date ipfilter.dat and get rid of them completly?

ipfilter is filtering too many sources. in ipfilter.dat there are a lot of ips belonging to companies and public administration. but there are a lot of mules running in those companies. i noticed a big slowdown in download and less sources for many files using ipfilter.

this function would really help to filter only ips providing no sources or corrupted files.

I have an up-to-date ipfilter list with 60000+ entries, and there is definitely no problem with any files or sources. It's just your imagination.

maybe i used a not-so-good ipfilter.dat

the problem is that someone (we don't know who) has to discover bad ips and to update the list.
using that funcion we can filter out bad servers without having to wait for someone else to discover those fake servers.

Download speed is limited to 2k, but I just ahve a cronjob wget'ing it weekly and let amule load it from the local machine on startup...

If you don't want a complete ipfilter list just create your own one with the fake servers. There aren't so much servers out there so it shouldn't be a big problem.
If you think that to much ips are filtered just enabled ipfilter logging under debug logging so you can check which ips get filtered. If you think that this are good IPs just remove them from the ipfilter list.
I personally use the ipfilter list http://emulepawcio.sourceforge.net/nieuwe_site/Ipfilter_fakes/ipfilter.zip which is compressed so you have to only download 1/4 of the normal file size.
