always crc error on files.rar

hello, i use amule2.0.3 on a debian testing
when i download files, i always have a crc error on the .rar files, and some "jumps" on mp3 files.

i wonder why that ALWAYS happens... is my filesystem (ext3) incompatible with amule ? my locales (fr_FR@iso-8859-15) ? is amule checking the hash when it downloads ?

i am lost ... thank for your ideas !!

I only use Razorback on 192.245.244.243 so the matter isn't here I think.

I don't understand at all : I have an archive with 3 files corrupted and all the others OK when I uncompress it under linux.
when I try to uncompress the same archive under windows, I still have 3 files corrupted but they are not the same than under linux !!!!

amule checks the hash of every part while downloading and checks the hash of the whole file again when it finishes the download. ext3 (like any other file system your kernel supports) is just fine and your locale shouldn't affect anything.

(Sorry for not providing new ideas, just ruling some things out ;) )

I made an experience today :

I have created an archive .rar on my WindowsXP station (in order to make all as if a peer shared a new archive he made) and I transferred it on my Linux station with Samba.
And the correct archive created under Windows made CRC errors when I tried to uncompress it under Linux !!
and when I transferred back the archive to the Windows station, it made CRC errors when I uncompressed it !

I tried to bypass Samba and the network transferring the archive with an USB key : from Windows to Linux, the uncompressed archive under Linux was correct.
but when I transferred back the archive to Windows, the CRC errors came back !

So what ? I don't understand at all, and moreover it doesn't explain why my downloaded files are corrupted before I transfer them!

thank for your help, and sorry for my poor english, I hope I can be understood.
I'll try to explain my problem on some Linux forums too. :(

I had those crc error aswell a while ago, its probably your hdd which is brocken, at least mine was....
check dmesg for some hdd failers, and check hdparms if dma for example is still working as it should

Hmm, I've heard of strange things regarding rar archives several times now, like somebody trying it to unpack (under Windows XP) on one drive and getting CRC errors, but when he moved and unpacked it to another drive on the same computer it worked just fine...

I guess it may be just another example of "why not to use proprietary software" ;)

I totally agree with you, and Windows is just for me the only way to play...

I sometimes dream about all files with the .tar.gz format on the network  :D

@stefanero :
I checked dmesg and I found : hda : cache flushes not supported
but I don't know if I can conflict with amule writes ?
hdparm says dma is enabled and OK.
but you're right, I'll try this evening to change my harddisk :)

I have also made a memtest, the memory seem to work well...

You should test your hdd with hdd regene****r for bad blocks...it could fix your disk....
Sorry for not posting the full name of the software but its forum rules and i dont want to make Kry unhappy....   :))

Just google for it and use amule.....

I use unrar 3.5.2-0.1 (non-free :] ) under Linux and Winrar3.5 under Windows.

There are some transfers problems between Windows and Linux via Samba3.0.14a-6 (if someone knows why...) so I think it could come from here when I download from a Windows user, don't you think ? but I don't understand what I've badly configured...
