Is amule's structure core+GUI or "monolithic"?
« on: January 19, 2004, 02:22:00 AM »

Hallo folks!
I am a pretty happy mldonkey user, but I was wondering if I could switch to amule!
My doubt is that since I am running linux without X, amule might not even be installed! Is that so??
Mldonkey can run without X. What about amule? Mldonkey has a core+GUI structure. From what I can see/read on the official page amule is "monolithic". Is that correct?

Right now, monolithic.

But you can 'fake' your X on the X-less box and control amule via webserver.

But is it possible to fake it? I mean, doesn't amule need X to be installed? I don't want to install extra-packages because this PC is a firewall. Can you tell me what software amule needs (dependencies) to be installed?

Ok ok, it's nice to lazy from time to time!
I read about Xvfb.
It looks cool. Perhaps I'll give it a try. Thanks for helping!
