aMule +eMule advise needed
« on: September 05, 2005, 03:29:45 AM »

hi, i got kinda of a problem....
i'm running aMule 2.0.3; works fine ;) through linksys router(my 3rd one lucky router...)

but if someone else jumps on the line with eMule i'm basically done; all the pings to router increased, can't log in etc.
so now, how important is KAD ? for that eMule? i will ask to switch it off, if now ban; but this is getting on my nerves, yeh, i have changed the maximum rates for connections etc, no use.

for aMule, is there a binary for XP? i'm not sure how to compile it for XP, under my linux ;) (not that i would care....really)

i'm using QoS, but then can't use it for all the protocols ;) just ridiculus.

please advise

The newest version for XP is 2.0.2 (2.0.3 changed just Linux stuff)...but you don't really wanna do that, won't you? For compile help, there's a page in the wiki.
I think the important settings are the max. connections as well as the max. cons per 5 secs. If you both have set this value too high, you overload the router with the results you described above.
If you have the WRT54G [I'm an happy owner since Saturday] you have the possibility to use a hacked firmware that gets along with up to 4096 concurrent cons.
Kad is not really important, just if you friend only has files with few sources KAD will be very handy, else the Server and SourceExchange do it's job.
I hope I could help a bit.
