kademlia in amule and firewalls
« on: October 11, 2005, 09:20:28 PM »

okay i don't know where to go with the question, so i tried development because it's a development release of amule i am using. sorry if i picked the wrong subforum.

my question is - what port is used for kademlia connections in amule? i keep minimal amount of ports ports open via shorewall and i do not know what to open for kademlia as it often says that it's firewalled.

i'm currently using cvs build of amule under gentoo (compiled manually with kademlia enabled, since the ebuild i have does not enable it)

thanks for your patience anyway ;)

amule uses the same ports for Kad that it uses for ed2k. However it takes some time to detect that Kad is not firewalled. Have you tried running amule for, say, 20min and then checked whether it is still firewalled or not?

also we had reports taht you need all 3 ports forwarded to get kad from firewalled to -> ok
so make sure you have 1tcp and 2x udp open ..
