amule saturates the line!
« on: October 13, 2005, 10:59:46 PM »

It's a strange thing... when I start amule, I can't surf the net or download my mail, as the line is really too slow! I use an ADSL line (Libero ADSL) and the speed test here goes well!

Here is my amule.conf

What is your adsl line capabilities in kilobits?1024/256 or 2048/256 or anything else?

Quote
DownloadCapacity=256
UploadCapacity=64
I dont believe your adsl line as more than 384Kbits/s which means an average of 48KB/s(Kilobytes per second) and you have 64KB/s which is 512 kbits of upload.....so you are giving too much of your bandwith ..... I would prefer giving only 15 KB/s in my cable 2048/256.
256Kb/s is about 32KB/s of upload.....

Cheers....

It sounds like you are saturating you connection with aMule.
Quote
MaxUpload=64
Are you sure your connection really has 64kB/s upstream bandwidth? The speed test you have linked above gives you speeds in kilo-bits per second, but aMule wants you to specify the limit in kilo-bytes per second. So divide the speeds you got from the connection tester by 8 and you got your line limits in kB/s.
In the aMule preferences set your upload bandwidth to that number minus 4 (to leave some bandwidth for other apps).

4096 Kbps download e 256 Kbps upload (so they say...)

...sometimes I feel so stupid... I didn't noticed aMule talks in Bytes and not in bits... I'll let you know.

Thanks again dudes

Don't worry, you're not the first one to fall for this... ;)
