Show complete sources ?
« on: November 14, 2005, 06:56:47 AM »

Hiya folks,

Long ago when I was using MSwindows and eMule, I remember one of the sorting categories for the search results of an edk search : complete sources. Or something like that, the sources having the complete file.

You see the idea : if the figure is zero, then who cares if one billion persons are sharing the file, since noone has the complete file in fact. This was uberly useful to avoid fakes or never-fully-released files, and they are plenty when you're searching for relatively rare files.

I don't see this kind of information in aMule's search sorting categories.
And, not to my great surprise, sometimes when I  start downloading a file, even after a full day, I see that the progressbar is half-blue (sources found), half-desperately-red (no sources ever).

Would that be possible to add the feature ? ^_^

It is already there. When you do a search, look at the sources. They say ike  "123 (12)" meaning 123 found, 12 reporting to have it full.

And mark my words on that "REPORTING TO HAVE IT FULL". Some clients doesn't publish the complete source state to servers, so there might be complete sources that the server is not aware of.

And in the case that two persons have the half of a file, you wouldn't see it. I have a rare file in queue. I have 53% and the complete source disappeared. Atm there is another one with 48%, and in there are the 47% I miss. The file is complete, but there is no complete source.

Also, you can sort by the number of complete sources.  Clicking on the Sources column header with rotate through the following modes: total sources, ascending; total sources, descending; sources reporting complete, ascending; sources reporting complete, descending.
