Several things
« on: December 03, 2005, 08:32:34 PM »

Ok, some stuff.

  • First, yeah, today's CVS tarball does not compile on some systems due to weird flex flags. I know it, it has been fixed, and tomorrow's tarball will be ok.

See patch attached and discussion HERE.

  • Second, new frappr update. 849 users already!. People, we have to reach at least 1k, and with that I mean 1024 users there, not 1000. Current map is just messy when zoomed out, but cliek HERE and use the zoom feature to take a look around (You can click Show all markers there to see all people).

BTW, if you created an account when adding yourself, you can move your "balloon" to the proper exact place where you are. That's done on the profile secion of frappr. And don't forget to visit Alien Loves Predator comic, because I discovered Frappr because of them, so they deserve some shameless advertising, and anyway it's one of the best webcomics out there!

  • And third, HopeSeekr paid us a visit to ask for some help:
Quote
--> HopeSeekr (n=HopeSeek@adsl-68-90-227-114.dsl.hstntx.swbell.net) has joined #amule
if some one comes forward and claims they are attacking xmule.ws (which the ISP claims is the target of the attack...) please report their nick + ip and all relevant logs to me.  Thanks.
<-- HopeSeekr (n=HopeSeek@adsl-68-90-227-114.dsl.hstntx.swbell.net) has left #amule

So please, if any of you is DDoSing xmule.ws, please stop right now. It's evil. Leave your nick, ip, port, and contact information too so we can inform this guy, because you know, we know you evil hackers want to go and tell the thieves/spies what illegal activities you do. And I know HopeSeekr here is not trying to get shameless advertising about his website on #amule, and now on amule.org site. xmule.ws works perfectly here, and has been working all day, so it's probably some DDoS we can't see.

Please, don't do that. Last time someone DDoSed this guy, he posted (and keeps posting) everywhere on the internet that it was amule team, and even better, that he lost his domain name because of the DDoS,  so it's all our fault. Don't give him more reasons for flaming us.

And remember: DDoS makes baby jesus cry.

Guys - I was looking for a decent p2p program for linux. Instead I found you guys throwing bull**** at each other. Just stop. It's a shame for all the open source community.
So he came to your IRC channel. He asked you to report it if someone mentioned something like DDOSing him. So what? If you think that'll never happen - just forget about it. He did not ask to be mentioned on your homepage. Concentrate on the software. Thats supposed to be more than enough work anyway.
Same thing with you HopeSeekr, btw.

tribut, I generally agree with you, but I think you're missing several years and dozens / hundreds of other visits by HopeSeekr on the amule channel. I'm not that long around that I have seen all background personally, but after some visits by Hope I wouldn't be able to deal with him as calm and relatively polite as he is being dealt with...

Also you might want to check your sarcasm detector, I think it might have failed on Kry's post ;)

Whaaaaaaaaatever. As dude said, your sarcasm detector might be broken (I might need to add sarcasm tags again, seems I shouldn't be so confident on the userbase), and btw, I found it interesting that you were looking for a decent p2p and INSTEAD found us throwing bullshit at eash other. So you didn't find a decent p2p here, I must assume?

And "Just stop"? Who are you to come and tell me (because I don't want to mix the team here and say "us") to stop? Have you any idea of what is this all about? Have you any idea that Ted is claiming everywhere, and specially on #amule, that we are the ones doing the DDoS to him? Hoho, someone from aMule is using a botnet to DDoS xMule! That's what I've been reading last days on the own #amule. So what, I can't have some fun and ridiculize him publically? If you feel so hurt by my comments on the subject, just don't read them. But don't tell me what and whatnot to do.

Oh, and about the "Concentrate on the software. Thats supposed to be more than enough work anyway", sorry if you feel we're not concentrating enough on the software, might our enslaved lives be devoted to it and I hearthly apologize for my little burst of sarcasm instead of being coding. Bad, Kry is a bad dog. I must learn better from Lassie. Lassie good dog, Kry bad dog.

As I started... whaaaatever.

Isn't Lassie dead already? At least /me don't wants you to behave like a ghost, better continue like you  - and of course the team - do: to create our beloved,  again and again compiled and tested, favorite app. :)

To tribut:

I was for a long time a xmule user. But I couldn't continue support and use a piece of software while that someone who was the head of that project acuses other client coders of stealing parts of the code to the competion (some ppl also shifted from one project to the other), anyway this is GPL... lol patetic isn't it?

That same person ofered money to anyone that was willing to import some of the code of amule into xmule, well that pretty explanes what happends.

That doesn't exactly explanes why some of the people from xmule keeps acusing amule of things like the bad weather, but that can explain that some things you better just ignore it.

Shouldn't we first torture him, install Windows on his PC (OK, it's the same), force him to memorize all keys in the registry and eat his dog?
OK, without the last point...besides there are any chinese guys around here ;)
