"find as you type" in search results
« on: December 04, 2005, 10:46:15 AM »

i think it would be awesome if we had a "find as you type"-function in the search results like it is implemented e.g. in gnome's system monitor.

this would not just save some of the users time but also network ressources because you don't have to send a second or third request when you want to refine your search.
and since firefox comes with this find-as-you-type-stuff i'm just so used to hack on my keyboard instead of looking on the screen when i'm searching for something.

this would make amule rock even more!

Depending on what you mean, this may already be implemented.

yes there is  the filtering options in search dialog. Maybe he wants something like firefox, that you won't need to press a button but it automatically filter the search result as you type in

You can do that on the results list.

What you can do already is to enter the first few letters to jump to that position in the search results list.

I think what chefdelacuisine means is some "filter as you type" functionality, where you don't have to click on the "Filtering" button, enter the text, and hit "Filter", but instead just type and the list gets automatically narrowed down after each keystroke.

i think lionel77 was the one who got my stammering right.

however, i can't find this filtering-button you're talking about. so maybe it's already implemented and i'm just too birdbrained to figure it out myself...

It's only on available through CVS snapshots atm. Will be in the 2.1.0 release.
But it doesn't work as you've requested I'm afraid. It works by only showing items that contain the search-string (reg-exp) and is updated when you press enter.
