port forwarding, low-id, router woes
« on: December 17, 2005, 07:03:31 PM »

Hello,

I'm trying to set up port forwarding on my DG834 so that the amule filesharing client is enabled. I have followed exactly the instructions for creating services and applying rules to the router firewall for the relevant ports, but on testing the TCP remains blocked. I've read the wiki, gone to portforward.com, I turned of my software firewall but no joy so far.

I think it may be something to do with the fact that my router is running DHCP, so I need to assign a static iP for amule. But, assuming thats the problem, I can't find any info on how to do this.

Also if i do have to make my ip static, is that something that my ISP has to allow? And would it make my PC less secure?

Any help much appreciated.

You should read manual of your router. Somtimes ISP can provide some support.
