Mac and PC on the same router...
« on: January 08, 2006, 02:35:45 AM »

Hi,
i´m using amule 2.0.3 on panther with a fritzbox router and 6MBit DSL. There´s also another Computer, a PC running with emule connected to the router. we have problems with the download rates, on both systems we don´t get more than 10 kb/s. We did the following setings:
connection limits: 350 sources each
max sources per file :50 each
max new connections/5sec:20
So, what can we do to improve the download rates? we both do have high id´s, maybe the router is the problem?
thanks for help

Stupid question, but did you enable two different sets of ports on bothe mules ?

I once had three different computers at home on the same router, and the only DL limit was the total bandwidth.

To improve you might want to set the the connection limit and max sources per file a lot higher, say 500.

However, it might be that your ISP is throttling p2p traffic, in which case you will never get any more on your downloads. There is no way of telling if they do though, other then their official policy statements which are usually a bit vague.

we both have hi id´s on razorback 2.0 and of course, we have set two different ports 4661 for he pc with emule and 4662 for the mac. i think we will try to set the max connections each up to 500 now, but it doesn´t seem that it solves the problem.

If the total of the upload limits set for aMule and eMule comes to more than about 80% of your internet connection's upload capacity, then the upload data will prevent the transmission of other data which is essential to getting good download speeds.

Take your connection's upload capacity (make sure to convert from kilobits per second to kilobytes per second).  Multitply by 80%.  Divide by 2.  Use that for the upload limit in each aMule and eMule.
