CentOS 4.2 problems with libreadline
« on: January 14, 2006, 06:54:53 AM »

When installing aMule-2.1.0-1.FC4.i386.rpm it displays some errors:
Quote
libreadline.so.5 needed for aMule-2.1.0-1.i386
libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.4) needed for aMule-2.1.0-1.i386

When installing libreadline-java-0.8.0-10jpp.i386.rpm it displays:
Quote
readline = 0:5.0 needed for libreadline-java-0.8.0-10jpp.i386

rpm -qa|grep readline::
readline-devel-4.3-13
readline-4.3-13

And sorry for my English  :]

Forget it. You cannot use this package.

The rearline error
Code: [Select]
libreadline.so.5 needed for aMule-2.1.0-1.i386is probably fixable,  but this one
Code: [Select]
libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.4) needed for aMule-2.1.0-1.i386is not. You libstdc++ is too old and you cannot update it without the risk of breaking a lot.

Use a package for an earlier Fedora release or compile it yourself it there is none.

There might actually be a reason why the package says "FC4" and your distro says "CentOS4.2" ;)

CentOS 4.2 claims to be compatible with RHEL 4 and RHEL 4 is based on Fedora Core 3, so a Fedora Core 3 RPM will probably work, but not a Fedora Core 4 one.

The problem is that rpm.pbone.net doesn't find a single aMule 2.1.0 RPM for Fedora Core 3. So will probably have to build it yourself.

I can confirm that FC3 RPM builds work fine with CentOS 4.3 (Current Build).

Generally I found this rule is fine:
CentOS 3.x = Fedora Core 1 package builds
CentOS 4.x = Fedora Core 3 package builds

I suspect that Fedora Core 5 builds will work with CentOS 5.x/RHES 5.x went its out the end of the year as it will be based on FC5!

from: http://www.savefile.com/projects/212064

its from the main amule.org page, downloads of linux then click distro specific and then the fedora thread, there you have fc3-5 built rpm packages.

 :D

p.s. strange thing is the post says by wardevil and phoneix and your login is wardevil!?  unless it was stefaero that made the rpms.  ?(

No, it was not Stefanero, I rather guess phoenix built them. :)

I have built FC4 rpms, but I don't know if they are the same you are talking about. I have sent them all to wardevil. I can build FC5 now, if anyone is interested, but I think wardevil has already done so.

Cheers!
