Hello, first of all, thanks to developers for getting kad to work.
 However, there seems to be a problem with amule for me (or is that a standard behaviour?). I have about 2mbit symetric shared connection, so I usually get at least about 1mbit in both directions for myself. I have a linux router that shapes p2p connections (both directions) dynamically (depending on day time), so say now I have got limit for upload 512kbits a 512kbits for upload. However, amule is uploading about 50KBs (i.e. 400kbits) but it is downloading only about <<5KBs (i.e. 40 kbits). When I stop shaping p2p, uploads rockets up somewhere to 120KBs but download only to something like 15KBs.
I am not connected continuously for more than 2-3 hours because my wireless adpater through which I am connected to the net is probably dying or something and needs to reboot a lot.
I know download rate raises up with longer lastin connection and I do not mind uploading my files to others in exchange for downloading from them, but hey, 1 to 10 is a little bit harsh ratio, aint it?

it might be caused by aMule, lower the max conenctions and max connection/5sec settings.

You were actually right, when I do not use aMule, the wireless connection lives happilly for more than a  day. I lowered both setting to minimum (25 and 5), but still I got from 20 to 80%  packet loss with aMule against 0-1% percent without it. eMule never did this to me (I have no idea how close your projects are), any ideas what to do with it (beside not using amule, which is not something I would like to do)

So it seems flashing a new firmware helped me a lot since the connection no longer freezes down. Also, I can have max connection/5s set around 25 and number of connections around 100 with no problems (although I do not know the best values yet, will play with it some more probably).

During my search through the wiki I found a mention that it is not recommended to share too many files. May I ask why - it seems a little bit against p2p philosophy?

No. It's again server abuse.

I see, but probably the average file size is more important than the absolute number? Or if I have lets say 1TB of 700MB sized files (that makes somethin like 1400 files), should I share only part of them?

Anyway, I found what, beside the wireless adapter, was the problem. My 16MB RAM, 125Mhz embedded linux router did not manage to route more than 50 connections using ipp2p filter - I disabled it and started to manage transfer rates form inside amule, highered up connections limit to some hundreds and voila - 100/100 transfers rates without problems.

The files themselves do not go through the servers.  Therefore, the size of the files doesn't matter to the servers.  Only the number of files matters.
