Site Downtime.
« on: February 08, 2006, 11:40:55 PM »

We're sorry about the downtime on site, forum, wiki, etc.

All the resources have been set read-only for now. More news on the reason for the downtime, the decision of setting it read-only now, and what the future will need, soon.

Well, not "soon" in the aMule way, I mean really soon. As in some time. Tomorrow maybe.

I'm leaving this thread (and just this one), open for replies. Feel free to ask anything about this (no support for now until forums are up again).

EDIT: As for OldFrog request, I added more info. Click on the thread to read the replies.

2nd EDIT: We have started some donations request to see how money we can get and what can we chose for the new server. So go!

This is the first time we have to directly ask for donations in 2 years and a half. Thanks to all those who kept the server alive  until now.

For donations, please use http://www.moneybookers.com or http://www.paypal.com (use paypal@amule.org on both to send your donation). If you're unsure on how to do that, just click on the donation links on the main aMule page, to the left, under the downloads menu. Many Thanks!

All done!

In the mean time, support is handled in our IRC channel: #amule @ irc.freenode.net

Looks like there was some DOS or some hack on ? Glad the site is back. Well as the CVS snapshots were still released, I knew it was only tech issue ;) . Take your time :)

Not really. The server simply stopped responding, tho I could access and backup all SQL data and all the hosted content.

We tried to contact the company with no result. deltaHF then managed to get the guy on a forum, and acording to the hoster, it was closed for non-technical reasons and deltaHF will receive a letter with the real reasons. Shortly after, it became online again for some unknown miracle.

We'll see how it turns out. Right now, we're gonna ask for donations to move elsewhere, probably to a dedicated server and forget all this kind of crap.

So people, prepare your money because, for the first time, we're gonna ask for it :P

You can keep clicking in the google ads meanwhile, tho.

Expect more info as soon as the "letter" arrives.

yes.. the reason is not known atm. the only thing i know is that i'll get a letter in next days (propably tomorrow).

from the answer i got, looks like our provider blocked our account.. no idea why. and yeah, its a miracle that the page is up again...

anyway, like Kry allready said: we would like to buy a REAL SERVER, tho we don't have all the money for it.

it would be nice if you guys could support us right now to get the needed hardware & hoster. so please, help us as we are trying to help you all! money, hardware.. everything is welcome!

for donations, please use http://www.moneybookers.com or http://www.paypal.com (plz use paypal@amule.org on both to send your donation).

for hardware donations, please contact us at admin@amule.org (or on berlios support forums when amule.org is down again -> http://developer.berlios.de/forum/?group_id=1296)

and here is a screenshot from the reply i got:

which means:

short info: your account with the aMule project is blocked. it isn't a technical problem. more info will follow in a letter you will get.

thank you,
deltaHF & the aMule team

To clarify something: The lines removed on the image are removed because

1) Privacy

2) Part fo the post is not directed to us, but to another guy, by Mr Schumacher.

Is not that we are hiding anything ;)

hi,
first, it's good to see the site back again. :)
was really concerned because this long downtime. but, like OldFrog did, i also noticed the continued work on cvs changings, and so tried to chill out a bit, hoping for the best. ;)

hey, this will surely become some more during the next days. :) or should I say next week.
for this is quite a good reason to create a paypal account. unfortunetely, it can take something between 3 - 5 days to activate it, they wrote in the confirm mail.

however, since our aMule gave us so much all along, now, as it needs some subsidy itself, it's just the right chance to give back something.

so, it is currently in progress.

btw:
it seems, as if wiki isn't really read-only in the morning. -  in fact, it was spammed, and could also changed back again...

hi deltaHF,
paypal doesn't require a creditcard any longer, too. but they make two little bank transfers onto one's account, and one has to specify the value of this transfers for validation. this may take some days, same as on moneybookers. ;)
