This is a mystery to me... I normally hash all my files in Shareaza and maintain a list of the ed2k links in a .htm file (not because I like to do it this way, but because I don't know how to export them with link wrapping and a description of filesizes in linux)
Here is the problem: I sometimes get different hashvalues when I hash the exact same file in amule and in Shareaza. But ONLY in mp3-files ! ?(
Example:
This is a edonkey link outputted from amule (this file resides on a ext3 partition):
ed2k://|file|Morgan_Reynolds_and_Eric_Hufschmid_on_key_9-11_evidence _(111605).mp3|6862027|4226E627FE8142B20FD6899768DF3F68|/
Here is the exact same file outputed from Shareaza (copied to a FAT32 partition)
ed2k://|file|Morgan_Reynolds_and_Eric_Hufschmid_on_key_9-11_evidence _(111605).mp3|6862027|54187bb8de9f93d011baf64759fee9c4|/
This should not be possible unless one of my filesystems are corrupt, the drive itself has bad sectors or otherwise is failing, as far as I know.
So I did a complete surface scan of my harddrives in both Linux and in Windows. No errors. Alle file systems are in perfect condition and there is no data loss anywhere.
What am I missing here? Is this possible under normal circumstances?
