aMule and eMule - what about their compatibility?
« on: March 16, 2006, 10:20:32 PM »

Is aMule compatible with eMule downloads? Can I import eMule 0.47a downloads into aMule?
If yes, can I periodically start aMule/eMule to download the same files?

It's difficult because eMule 0.47a introduced some file format changes because of large file support which is currently present in aMule CVS only, not in any released version, and probably not complete.

Sharing only the .part files should be OK, the other ones might be difficult.

What you mean for "the other ones"?
And, as I understand, the full compatibility will be present in the new version of aMule?

It's copletely compatible as long as you don't download a >4GB file. If you do, use the aMule CVS version and everything will be ok.

Look and the contents of your ~/.aMule directory... There are more than .part files there.

These "other ones" (preferences.dat, known.met etc.) used to be shareable in the past as well, but I think that it's difficult right now.

Yes, of course.

EDIT: See above for the definite answer.
