low ID again
« on: March 16, 2006, 10:47:50 PM »

Hey there,
Lately, when "connection lost" happens,  my aMule reconnects to some server OK, but I always get low ID, telling me that I'm most likely behind firewall or router. If I'm present, I disconnect and try some other servers, usually Byte Devils or Big Bang and I end up connected to DonkeyServer No1 anyway and with my usual High ID. This is also strange, because time ago I used to connect to some obscure servers (as far as I know, it doesn't matter) and things where just fine. I have aMule 2.0.3 using wxGTK2 v2.6.1 (Unicoded) based on eMule, running on Linux 2.6.12-10-386 i686 (Ubuntu Breezy). I share quite a bit, but I think not too much - under hundred GB. I changed my ports to 3333x. I am on cable connection - 3072 x 512 kbps. No router or firewall. Server list from ocbmaurice. I don't want to complain too much, but when I come back home and see that I have low ID for last six hours, I feel kinda offended. This is new to me, happening last three weeks. Any ideas ?
Oh yes, I will upgrade sometime in april, along with my Ubuntu.

Only God knows everything. He works for Mossad.

I noticed the same too with many servers lately, and with one other server I even got a totally new (high) ID!

Personally I think that those servers that hand out low ID's are either fake ones, or they are located behind firewalls themselves. Suggestion: Download and install a ipfilter file, and set several well known servers to high priority. This usually takes care of your issue.

Thank you, vdb.
I had ipfilter already installed, just updated it today with new one from openMedia (date 17 March). And all, but two servers, were set to high priority. Then I disconnected and reconnected to BiG BanG 12 no problem and with high ID. Now the servers are on Normal, I've set some on High. I'll see how my Mule behaves these next days and let you know if anything interesting happens.
keep on  :baby:
