Sharing temp with aMule and eMule
« on: May 02, 2006, 05:36:49 PM »

I have a Windows and Linux dual boot computer where I have been using eMule on both Windows and Wine/Linux. Now I want to use aMule on Linux. I would be running a development snapshot of aMule because of the large file (> 4GB) support. I have a question on that:
Can the temp directory be shared between eMule and aMule? I mean, does alternately running aMule and eMule on the same temp directory work without any undesired consequences?

Usually this works flawlessly
.
But when I read Files larger than 4 GB I have to expect, that you use NTFS. The Linux-NTFS-Support is still incomplete and there *may* occure some errors, which *could* result in data loss.

My shared temp dir is on an Ext3 partition, which I access in WindowsXP with the help of the Ext2IFS driver.

Under this circumstances, there shouldn't be problems, because both programs use the same format of files. :)
Just adjust the path to the temp-folder, restart a/eMule and everything should work fine.
