I've lost my High-ID!!!
« on: July 25, 2006, 01:49:35 PM »

After a struggle with the options on my router, I was finally able to get High-ID with aMule. Things have been perfect with several months of happy downloading.

However, yesterday I arrived home and found that I had lost my internet connection. I restarted my Mac and the router and the internet connection was perfect. The problem arised when I stared aMule, and was told that I now have low-ID.

I've checked my router and the TCP port I use 44662 is open, but I still get the low-ID. No options have been changed on aMule, so I don't understand what's happened for this to occur.

Anyone got any ideas as to what may have happened?

Thanks to everyone in advance. ;)

Most likely scenario: You did not actually save the configuration in the router's non-volatile memory, causing it to lose the settings when it was rebooted.

I would say that you probably have not all settings restored, take a good look at the required ports, especially if you have changed something in the aMule setup as well. Look at the ports, see if all 3 are open, perhaps it's UDP vs TCP which is mixed up. Just take it step by step, and don't give up.  ;)

The settings are the same as they were before, as I only restarted the router. I didn't change the configuration in any way in the router or in aMule. I entered in the router via: http://192.168.1.1 in order to see that the ports were still correctly open, and checked the ports open en the aMule configuration too. Everything was in perfect order. :(

I also entered in the aMule's Test Port Page, and apparently my TCP port is correctly open.

Try changing your aMule ports (and, of course, the forwarding in the router).  It may be that your ISP has started filtering or something.

Well folks, a very, very strange thing has happened.

Lately, I've been very busy at work, so I haven't had the time to mess around with aMule, the router or change ports. Every night, before leaving my Mac, I would log on to aMule, to see if there was any change, just in case.... you never know.

Well, tonight seems to be my lucky night! For some bizarre reason, I have High-ID... not that I'm complaining!

I was thinking of re-installing aMule, but in the end that wasn't necesary. However, I would be interested to find out what may have caused this problem, especially as I haven't touched anything.
