Normal? Bottom of Amule bouncing up and down?
« on: August 11, 2006, 06:14:50 AM »

Is it normal for amule to do this?

When maximized in Gnome, so that the program is touching both the start menu panel and the taskbar panel, the bottom of Amule bounces up and down.

The "Users / Files / K" status area keep expanding and shriking from one line to two, causing the program to appear as thought it is bouncing, especially the above amule log window, which keeps having to expand and contract in order to compensate.

To say it is annoying would be an understatement. I looked here and online and saw no mention of this.

Thanks

Happened for me with Ubuntu too, but it seems that no one knows what's the cause.
(I've posted this already, but I don't know where anymore...)

Change the fonts

Change the font of your applications to "Bitstream Vera Sans" or "Verdana" and it should go away.

I don't know what's the cause, but it has to do with the font used for the applications.

Some fonts (like "DejaVu Sans") causes this, some don't.

Same jumping problem here, Fedora Core 6. Besides, the Kad status (firewalled/OK/Disconnected) sometimes appear, sometimes dissapear, with no reason, and stays only the ED2K status. However, the arrows in the world give me the status of Kad :P

I have no idea about XFCE, but try searching in the menus about "Desktop Preferences" or "UI Settings" or something along the lines.  You should find some settings that allow you to change the default font for GTK applications.

Also, to everyone, an upgrade to wxGTK 2.8.0rc3 (and aMule CVS-2006-12-09) solved the problem.

Right now, I'm using "DejaVu Sans Condensed" (which used to cause the same symptoms as the original poster described) and everything is great!.

Ziyad.
