aMule crashes when i place a download
« on: October 10, 2003, 12:12:34 PM »

Hi.
Amule crashes when i put a download, the download page is not showing and the aMule is shutdown.
If I remove the part.met from the temp directory, the aMule download page is showing again, and the program works fine, but if i try to download the same thing, a line is showing advertising that "this file is already downloading", but i deleted all the part.met from the temps file....
I'm using Mandrake 9.1 and aMule-1.0.6.
Thank u.

Hi,

Does your system localized with language other than english ?

If so, read :

Internationnalistaion reworked on aMule, so actually aMule run only in
english language properly ...

To force aMule to use english language even if your distribution use another
locale, launch aMule by using this :

export LANG=C && LC_ALL=en_EN && export LANG=en_EN && export LC_MESSAGES=C && amule

If this doesn't fix your problem, can you come on EFNET IRC Network please and we try to fix in live ...

Then send the output here ...

 Is this correct?

 Should it spell:

Hi !
I think I have the same problem :
When I click on the "Transfers" button, amule crashes and I get here is what I get in the terminal :

OOPS! - Seems like aMule crashed
--== BACKTRACE FOLLOWS: ==--

  • amule [0x81a964b]
  • [1] /lib/i686/libc.so.6
[0x407be3b8]

[3] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(gtk_paint_slider+0xac) [0x409fbd6c]
Aborted

I m using mandrake 9.1 (french) with aMule 1.2.4
In your answer, you said to launch amule this way:

export LANG=C
export LC_ALL=en_EN
export LANG=en_EN
export LC_MESSAGES=C
amule

but i still get the same error

What should i do ?

is there an irc channel where i can find you ?

thank you.

Hi,

the best thing you can do first is to ungrade to 1.2.6 version and see if it does any better.
12.6 version is really stable so maybe this will already fix your problem.

for the IRC channel it is

Quote
2. the official aMule irc network is now irc.freenode.net , channel #amule

I saw you an the other one, but this one is basically dead.......

hope that helps

using export is out of date ..

the crash can be related to wxgtk linked against gtk2

and like stefareno said, the official amule channel is now #amule on irc.freenode.net

hi,

you can try our rpm from this page. that should help to solve the problem
or you can rebuild the wxgtk yourself with the help of this little "how to"

http://www.amule.org/amule/howto.php

have fun
