--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My System is a Debian "testing" box.
I generated .deb packages with "dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -b -rfakeroot"
and installed them via "dpkg -i amule*_2.1.3+cvs20071220_i386.deb".

I searched the same string with different methods.
So I ended with three tabs (Local, Global and KAD).
I added some results to download.
Then closed one search result tab after another.
When closing the very last one amule crashed. (The one I closed last, was the first I opened during searching.)
I have experienced this for quite a long time (half a year). I can avoid this crash by using the "clear results" (or whatever was the name of this) button. Then all tabs are closed and the crash does not occur.

Next time I'll try starting amule with dbg for a big backtrace.

Kind Regards

Try a newer SVN snapshot. I recently committed a workaround for a wxNoteBook bug*, which I can see is not included in the 2008-01-06 snapshot.

Just tested the 16.01.2008 snapshot:
It still keeps crashing on closing the last search tab.

I'll create a backtrace tomorrow or during the weekend.

Please remember to build amule with debugging enabled in that case. ;)
Makes the backtraces a whole lot more readable.

So the backtrace up here came from an amule without --enable-debug or what?
I thought that's done by "dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -b -rfakeroot" automatically?
The config.log generated during running of the later consists the following lines:
Code: [Select]
Invocation command line was

  $ ./configure --host=i486-linux-gnu --build=i486-linux-gnu --prefix=/usr --mandir=${prefix}/share/man --infodir=${prefix}/share/info --enable-systray --with-ccache --enable-utf8-systray --enable-geoip --disable-embedded-crypto --enable-amulecmd --enable-debug --disable-optimise --disable-profile --enable-webserver --enable-cas --enable-wxcas --enable-alc --enable-alcc --enable-amule-gui --enable-amule-daemon --with-language=all

So it should be enabled, shouldn't it?
Or do I have to activate something in the preference tab of amule?

So long,

You have to install the corresponding -dbg package aswell. For amule...deb this would be amule-dbg...deb

Now a backtrace of the aMule-CVS-20080116

Hm...
As "dir amule*2.1.3+CVS20080106_i386.deb" returns

[...]

"dpkg -i amule*2.1.3+CVS20080106_i386.deb" should have installed them.
But why is the filenmae CVS20080106, when I downloaded and compiled the SVN snapshot on 16.01.2008?
The "About" tab in amule tells me that it's from the 16th.
Next time I'll delete the amule-cvs directory before untaring the new snapshot.

So now to the backtrace:

"dpkg -i amule*2.1.3+CVS20080106_i386.deb" should have installed them.

You can easily find out if this is like you expect using apt-cache policy packagename

But why is the filenmae CVS20080106, when I downloaded and compiled the SVN snapshot on 16.01.2008?
The "About" tab in amule tells me that it's from the 16th.
Next time I'll delete the amule-cvs directory before untaring the new snapshot.

This is because you didn't bump the version number using dch described on http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo_Compile_In_Debian#Building_your_own_debian_packages

Ah, okay, thanks, i'll try next time.

amule-dbg, by the way is installed as "apt-get policy amule-dbg" tells me.
