Hello.

My aMule's running on an old bi-pro pentium2 350 machine with 512mo of ram, it's running between 6 or 12 hours then hands, the cpu utilisation fall to 0%, the windows hangs (not responding), and that, since the first version of amule i've tried : 1.1.0 ...

Anybody can help me ?

samething here: P-III 600MHz, aMule 1.1.2 hanging after around 10 hours....
1.0.8 runs for weeks....

i have similatr problem.
kernel redhat 9.0 latest uptate
also same thing on 2.6.0-test9, 2.6.0-test5, 2.6.0-test7 AMD k6-iii 450mhz

basically amule works great for a few hous (3, 4 sometimes 6)
the load average sometimes exceeds 7.2 after 6 hors or so
then either linux ittself freeses from overload and frreses the xwindow (kde or gnome) or it freses the vncserver virtual desktop.

HI,

I've got same problems using other Windows/Linux clients. Finally I realized the problems came from my ADSL router.

If you're using a home DSL/router my be it get blocked in few hours/minutes. Reinit your router and see whether the problems go out.

It's the router that cannot give more connections to amule. It's a known amule behaviour that when it loses inet connection, it hangs.

Sad enough to all the people who sit on a net with forced disconnects.
(btw, my router is another linux client which should provide more than 10000 connections if the bnadwidth is sufficient)

Any idea if this can be fixed ? A hang all 24 hours doesn't give me the option to really use aMule and i'd like to.

But is this behaviour normal or should amule manage (in future releases) these disconnections?

.. and i had to abort amule to see them disappear
(but in the meantime i was browsing the net with Opera, so my router wasn't completely overloaded...)

Should amule have to disconnect itself?
What if I kill eand relaunch amule (set with autoconnect) regularly via a crontab entry?

Guest: what does cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_max say? That's the maximum number of connections your router allows. You can increase that number by echoing something there, but remember that each connection needs 350 bytes of unswappable memory.

No ip_conntrack_max in that directory.. but I haven't installed any router/firewall sw on my linuxbox... I run my linux box on a private network (192.168.x.x) and I'm using an external 3Com modem/router (it's a HomeConnect "patched" to run as a 812 Router)... and I didn't find a command that could show a parameter like that...

Do first a modprobe ip_conntrack

ip_conntrack is probably built as an additional module to iptables.
