I have been using aMule since the very begining without any noticiable problem. But recently I have migrated from debian to gentoo and the problems have started. I have amule 1.2.6 compiled by myself and a possible bug has appeared. This problem is always reproducible, amule losses its icons and the letters from the menus and the tips dissapeard after a download is completed. Every other thing is still working and the download continues without any problem at all.
I know that gentoo and amule are having some trouble, but a I want to use amule just becouse you are doing a great job, I've been using it for some time and I down't want to change. If I could be of any help you can count on me. I can compile any other version and do some testing if you want. Don't hesitate to ask for more details.
