More nodes.dat files simultaneously
« on: March 17, 2008, 11:31:18 AM »

Hi everybody,
When using KAD, you're stuck to the nodes referenced by the nodes.dat file. This could be annoying when, it happens to me, you're searching for files that no one belonging to that set of addresses have.
In fact, if I use another nodes.dat file (i.e. a French or a Spanish one), magically I can find what I was looking for. Ok ok, you might say, just switch to another nodes.dat and try searching... But of course this is quite irritating because when I change, then I can't find (and keep downloading) the files that were on the other network described by the older nodes.dat.
My proposal is to implement a mechanism that can take the advantage to use two or more nodes.dat files simultaneously. Is that possible?
Thank you

I always thought that a search on kad searched your peers, and your peers searched on their peers, etc. so you eventually would get results from all the existing peers...however I am not sure, so i could be wrong.

Regards.
