These are a few displaying bugs in aMule v2-rc1:
- Bottom line has characters overlapped when starting aMuel and when connecting to a server (rearranged when resizeing the window or swithing to another tab)
- In the "Servers" tab, when starting aMule, the number of servers currently listed in servers.met is overlapped by the URL input-field. This is also arranged by resizeing the window or switching to another tab and then back to the "Servers" tab (or simply clicking on the "Servers" button, to refresh the tab), Probably related with the above bug.
- In the "Servers" tab, both "aMule Log" and "Server Info" aren't mouse scrollable.
- Not really a bug but a feature eMule has and aMule doesn't: In search tabs it doesn't display the amount of found items next to the tag (title of the tab).
- (This may be caused by a bad defaults configuration in my GTK): Tips are displayed in a very big size
- Not a bug but a shoud-be-there feature: Tips are mostly inexistant in aMule; there are only in the tabs buttons, and they are _very_ ugly (at least here). There should be an option to remove them, if not completely removed from source :-)
- I used the no-tray switch (whatever the switch is exactly) in the ./configure before compilation, but the Preferences window still has the option for minimazing aMule into the system-tray, which what will actually do is make aMule so hidden that the only way I found out to make it appear again is to close it, edit config file (~/.eMule) and open aMule again... loseing all current connections.
- Even if not useing the no-tray switch when compiling, it should try to detect if there is any such tray (if technically possible, of course), since distributions give out mostly binnaries, not source-code.
- I may be wrong, but preview doesn't work (useing mplayer with no skins here)
- "auto-arrange list" definitely doesn't keep changes to next aMule session (surely a known bug, since it's a visible problem, heh). Anyway, it doesn't apply to the current running execution of aMule when setting it. So it's quite non-functional by know... I guess that's why this is "rc1" and not "final" ;-)
- Previewing video files works, but "previewing" finished videos doesn't. It seems like it does not give the extension of the files. after useing "xterm -e mplayer" instead of "mplayer" I cans see "opening /mnt/dos/Ronaldinho - Gol Osasuna!." <- no extension
- aMule hangs if trying to update server.met while being inetd disconnected (still there's another bug on server.met, as said at the end of this post, but I haven't been able to find t pattern yet)
- this is also a feature, not a bug, but its very much ncecessary, so I guess, although not a bug, it's very near ;-) : "Check fake" has a builtin browser detection which is based on trying several well-known browser names (AFAIK from what Madcat told me). That becomes obviously inefficient since a config entry such as the "preview"-"Video player" is very much needed for comlete support (also, if aMule2 had been released two months ago, it would supoprt firebird, but not firefox... it should also allow switches such as "%s" since it would be useful to declare the whole command so that the user can define to open the page in a different window, tab, sam tab, different profile, etc.
- The menu of the transfered files (finished downloading) still shows "Preview [*.part]" until aMule is restarted. When a file is finished downloading it should just show "Preview" instead of "Preview [*.part]", In fact, the exact number.part they show is the number of the last non-completed transfer which has been right-clicked... wieeeerd! ;-)
- Back again in "servers" tab, when connected to, let's say, TestServer.com, if you right-click server you are connected to, and select "Connect to this server"... it actually disconnectes from the server and never tries connecting again! :-S
More non-display related bugs:
- configure --help displays "--enable-debug" but doesn't display "--disable-debug". Since debug is enabled by default, it should be displayed. (I even believe there are more options not displayed in "configure --help" but I guess it'd take a year to find them all :-D)
- configure doesn't check for gettext (does not check if msgfmt exists)
- configure doesn't also check for crypto++ 5.1 (does not check if /usr/include/crypto and /usr/lib/libcryptopp.a exist)
- Also, the known FAT bug (just to make sure no-one forgets it :-P) (this is on FAT32, not tested FAT16 nor FAT12): aMule still rehashes part files on FAT filesystems if the partition has been umounted :-(
- There's also a bug in server.met which makes it become 0-byte-length or at least loose most if the servers when disconnected, but it seems hard to reproduce and I'm still trying to find the pattern.
