That's nice...not really user-friendly and frankly, a little short-sighted.
Users, especially Windows users, don't need to compile it, since we provide binaries. I can't provide anything I can't create or support, and I won't spend my own, private and unpaid time for it.
The life-cycle of "big" software can easily reach up to a decade and even longer.
What software? MSVC or aMule? And what's your point?
You may say "As developer you aren't considered a user that needs support in terms of a software life-cycle like an end-user".
Lol. If you need
support in terms of a software life-cycle, you gotta
pay for it. Even for Linux, which is free, but support of which isn't. As long as you keep paying me I keep supporting you.

And responding "aMule's just a little project for enthusiasts" wouldn't do aMule justice, now would it?
That's just what it is. It can't compete with Linux, Firefox, whatever, and the devs sure are a bunch of enthusiasts. Try asking on a forum and get response from a real dev (even for plain noob questions) on any other OS project.
How does keeping the anything but obsolete 2k5 project files within an MSVC-retired folder which won't be officially supported
If someone (like you) provides them we sure can discuss it.
