problem at startup
« on: December 01, 2004, 01:04:36 PM »

hi there!

i've tryed to upgrade from 2.0.0rc5 to 2.0.0rc7....

i builded and installed it, and when i launch amule it begins the AICH hashing....

i've red the news and i was warned about that..... it took 25 minutes or so and then, write in the console:

.....
AICH Thread: Hashing file: YYYYYYYYYY, total files left: 1
AICH Thread: Hashing file: XXXXXXXXX, total files left: 0
AICH Thread: Hashing completed.
AICH Thread: Thread terminated.

but the cpu usage is still at 100% and the amule window is still dont responding, the window  dont redraw itself neither....

i let it in that state up to 10 hours, without results.....

is that normal?
any solution?

regards

it's definitely wrong. there are some bugs on file handling in rc7 and that might be your problem. Do the following:

mv ~/.aMule ~/.aMule2 && mv ~/.eMule ~/.eMule2 && amule

let's see if aMule stats now.
If it does, please DO NOT delete those files and directories moved above for two reasons:
1) they contain your downloads, your data and your config
2) we need it to see what was failing and check if it fails too on current aMule CVS

so, once you checked that it works, report here and we'll tell you what's next to do ;)

Greetings!

in the .eMule file where your preferences saved.
just open prefs and remake the path thats all, erstart amule after taht and your downlods will be back.
thats what it aws before: TempDir=/mnt/ext235/elsanto/xmuletemp

hi....

when i put the old directory (the temporary files for 2.0.0rc5) for temporary files, the problem appears again....  so i suspect that there is a problem with some  part/met files...

regars

El Santo:
so then, the problem is with some .met file. Go moving the .met files one by one (with it's related *.part* files) to some other directory until you find which one was giving problems.

Please opst here the .met file that was braking aMule :)

Btw, thanks for posting the .eMule file (allthough we now knoe it's not hte thing giving the problem).

hi again!....

i launch amule with a clean "temp" and "incoming" directories....

then, from the preferences dialog I changed the incoming directory to the "old one"....

then amule did a "normal hash" and then an AICH hash...

then i close amule, i moved the "temp" files to the new temp directory and then launch amule again....
the partial download were recognized and resumed....

so i suspect that the problem was some kind of incompatibility with normal hashes of files between 2.0.0.rc5 and 2.0.0rc7.

by the way i tryied 2.0.0.rc6 before al this repaining process and i had the same results, so i suspect that the problem was not rc7 only related, but rc6

regards.... and thanks
